Dear visitors, well wishers and citizens of Uganda, through the chief admistrative officer, I welcome you to Our District Website, we are pleased to let you know much about us. Buvuma is Located in the waters of Lake Victoria near the Napoleon Gulf, Buvuma is an archipelago of 52 stunning islands. The District is home to a population of 118,976 people, spread across 6 sub-counties and 3 town councils. Occupying a total area of 429.5 square kilometers, the Islands are characterized by their considerable elevation and are largely covered in natural tropical forests, boasting a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The striking beauty of the Islands, with their captivating sights and sounds, makes Buvuma a truly hospitable destination.
About the fish: Life in Buvuma is centered around fishing. That means casual laborers are few and expensive; they simply do not need the work. If one does not do their job, they go fish and still earn. Therefore do not come expecting a fresh catch on demand. Most of Buvuma’s fish is quickly sold off to better-paying markets in town. If you want a good fish meal, you must place an order early in the morning or have connections. Your ambition might not be about a broken traffic rule, but a big desire to have a decent fish meal. You may need connections to one of the big fishermen around, putting into consideration that Buvuma is one of the few places where bargaining holds little weight.
